Makeup trends are undeniably popular these days. This calls for a demand of a makeup station, or more commonly known as a dresser. Gone are the days where you have to go any accessible mirror at home to do your makeup in the most uncomfortable position. Because of the influence of Pinterest and YouTube beauty gurus, people have now become very well-versed on how a vanity should look like. Some buy their own while some have a little more fun by building their own. It’s always fun to do a little arts and crafts plus, you get to save more money, too.
You don’t really need to do shell out too much as long as you plan building your vanity, research for the right resources and get the design that matches your personality the most.
Here are the things you need to consider:
Mirror
A vanity wouldn’t be complete without a decent sized mirror. While a big mirror looks fun, ensure to check if it will fit your room. I mean, if you can show me a person who can do their makeup without a mirror, I would be in awe. You can buy ready made mirrors with lights or you can even purchase a mirror in a wooden frame and install the lights yourself. There are mirrors connected to a table already while there are mirrors that you can put on top of a table or hang in the wall.
Lighting
Who looks into a mirror without a light, right? Plus, how are you gonna take those awesome selfies without it? Normal room lighting is unfortunately not enough to allow you to have a clear vision of your makeup application. Natural lighting is still the best but when not available, you should always have your own alternative light. To imitate the natural light of the sun, a mix of warm and white LED lights bulbs will do. Make sure that it has a range of 2500K to 3000K in Kelvin temperature. Placement of the light bulbs are also essential to avoid unflattering facial shadows. The fixture should be in both sides and don’t extend past the mirror.
Chair
Vanity chairs should be comfortable and should be able to support your size. If you are unsure of what to get, pick and adjustable stool. You can never go wrong with it. Height matters to make the best use of your mirror and lighting. Any chair would also do if the height is proportionate to the mirror. Personally, I would suggest something with a cushion and a back rest.
Makeup Storage
Storing makeup in a vanity could mean two things. Displaying it if full view or storing it in drawers. Cosmetic organizers like acrylic organizers are a good idea for arranging stuffs above the table. You will need organizers. It gets messy at time so make sure you get organizers. They’re fun and pretty and it’s just so nice to look at.
Go get inspired now and see what you can come up with. This is an exciting project for makeup enthusiasts indeed.
